Day 1: The Why
31 days of Book Recommendations, Reviews and Wants. 31 days? You bet. I am an avid reader and literature enthusiast. I can’t help but read daily. I re-read books too. Oh yes, many are that good. Of course that is my opinion too.
My hope with this series, a few things…
- Share information that has been very valuable to me
- Get you excited about reading and what it can do for you
- Have you make some life changes
- Get my mojo back regarding writing
Yep, that and some more, but those will be kept close to my heart.
Bottom line, I have been wanting to share this information with you for a really long time. I have made excuses for why I shouldn’t or have truly had life circumstances keeping me from sharing. I think about things way too much without planning them out and writing them down. So things are out of site and out of mind so to speak and then it never gets posted or thought about.
At least, not until I am sleeping at night, rather trying to, writing posts in my head, then hoping and praying I will remember them when I get the time. Yeah, that never ends up happening. Or the times that I have an amazing posting idea, or download from the Lord, and I am in the middle of traffic with nothing to write on. Or other even stranger and less desirable moments and places to write ideas down. It happens.
Why now? Why 31 days?
Well that has come from much deliberation and truthfully procrastination and fear on my part. This inspired idea does not originate from me but a gal who blogs and is well known, The Nester. She has head up this 31 days of posting series for a good while now and has inspired and encouraged women globally, including yours truly.
As I was beating myself up this morning for not participating in the challenge, I stumbled upon a friends series of posts Parenting With Purpose, one who did not shy away. That led me to The Nester’s home page and her great encouragement to those who may be shying away from the challenge… And I quote:
This is not about coming up with a perfect topic that no one has ever heard of before. This is about accepting a challenge. This is about falling back in love with writing. This is about being afraid and saying yes anyway. This is about encouraging others with something you’ve been through or taking that first step into learning something new.
There are a million little topics you could write about. Or, even if we all chose the exact same topic we would all say so many different things about it because there are a million little ways to say the same thing. I hope you don’t back out because of fear. You can do this! ”
bold type mine
And that is why I am doing this.
These books that I share about are from spiritual encouragement, self help, gardening, DIY, health and healing, fiction, biographies, non-fiction, you name it, we will cover the genre… well maybe not you name it, but close. The point is I will be covering a lot!
I hope you enjoy the series. I plan on adding in posts about food and other things (if the Lord so leads) as I can.
I am inspired and committed. I will enjoy walking this out with you and getting feedback on your journey of the written word.
Peace, Love and Blessings Galore!

What a great topic and a fun one to write about! I’m in the same boat as you. I read and read and read…and then wish I had more time to read. My “to read” stack of books is almost 2 feet tall. So glad you decided to jump in and do the challenge. I’m finding already that it’s a challenge but we’re all in it together and there is grace. So glad. Also, thanks for linking to my series in your post. I hope it’s a blessing to many. Have a great weekend!
Thank you LeeAnn! I needed the encouragement. 🙂 There is much grace indeed! Love that we are reading sisters. Hugs!
